Ever since I can remember I have always loved Heath Ledger movies. For this medium, I thought Heath Ledger as the joker was the perfect subject to paint because of the messiness of his makeup and hair. To start, I made a light outline of his face and I placed a light base wash, by mixing the green paint with mineral spirits, all over the canvas. Next, for the lights, I used mineral spirits to remove paint and for the darks, I mixed the green paint with a small amount of black and a very small amount of mineral spirits. I then took white paint and added the finishing touches of highlights with a small brush. Lastly, I scanned the painting in and brought it into photoshop where I turned up the saturation and cropped the image to my liking.
